Beginning Orchestra I – Full Year Course

Prerequisite: None

This performance-based class focuses on basic instrumental skill development and music reading. The goal of this class is to teach students the proper way to hold and play a string instrument. Students can elect to play their instrument of choice (violin, viola, cello, or bass) with the orchestra director’s approval and recommendation.

This ensemble meets every other day and is made up of players with zero to one year of playing experience.

Students participating in this ensemble will begin focusing on:

fundamentals

ensemble skills

reading skills

rehearsal skills.

These students are invited to participate in most concerts throughout the year.
